ROK RALLY - May 2017

Two Creeks Campground - Del Rio Tennessee
May 26 - 28 (918 Miles)

Tony and I left at 6:30 am on a beautiful sunny day (good weather forecast for the entire ride to Del Rio).  We rode our usual route, 74, 218, 485 around Charlotte to 16, 40 through Weaverville then 25 to Del Rio.

Saturday morning we left at 9 am for a ride to lunch.  Bill took us on a route through Foothills Parkway in Tennessee and miles of beautiful mountain roads.

Our lunch stop was at Bush's Family Cafe in Chestnut Hill, Tennessee.   Be sure to visit the visitor center and museum.

When we finished lunch we rode to Douglas Dam overlook.  The forecast was calling for rain and storms which never materialized.  ๐Ÿ˜Ž

The perfect ending to a wonderful ride was Jerry's outdoor two person shower! ๐Ÿ‘ซ

After dinner Jimmy Morrow told us more stories about Cocke County; then closing ceremonies and door prizes.  Tony got a very nice pen light flashlight and I have a jar of Nancy's homemade "moonshine cherries" which we can't open until August 28!

The mountain storms held off until late evening when we were in our sleeping bags in the tent.  I was sure the tent would collapse with the wind and rain ... but the tent held up!  Tony never woke up, (wine/moonshine?).  A little water crept in but we were warm and dry thanks to the blankets Nancy and Bill gave us.  This year we loaded up both bikes with camping gear but there is only so much one can bring.  We had chairs and a cooler (and the blankets) thanks to Nancy and Bill bringing them for us.  Thanks๐Ÿ˜Š

Sunday morning was cloudy (rain forecast for the area).  We left at 8 am with cool, cloudy weather and mostly dry roads.  Got home rain free with 90 degree weather near home.
