BMW MOA SCOOT BOOT'N BOOGIE - June 2019

James E. Ward Agricultural Center
Lebanon, Tennessee
June 13 - 16, 2019 (726 Miles on the Motorcycles)

Sunday June 9
Motorcycles on the trailer ready to leave Monday morning at 7:45 for Kodak Tennessee

Monday June 10

Our route was 74 picking up 40 in Asheville to Kodak, Tennessee.  Route 40 was closed westbound at exit 7 in North Carolina because of rock slides so we diverted to 25 through Hot Springs running into rain in the mountains.

We arrived at Bill and Nancy's house at 4:30.  HAPPY BIRTHDAY NANCY!  We all went to the Chop House in Kodak for dinner.

Tuesday Bill took us on a ride through Smoky Mountain National Park at Sugarlands Visitor Center and South to Clingmans Dome (59 degrees and sunny at the top) then back to Sugarlands and west on little river road to Townsend and lunch.  Rode back to Kodak on the new section of Foothills Parkway.

Wednesday we left at 10:30 in the morning to pick up Bill at his office.  The three of us had rain getting to Bill's office but missed most of the rain on the ride to Lebanon on Route 70 the "first state highway from Bristol to Memphis" ... from then on beautiful weather for the rally!   Our lunch stop on Route 70 was in Crossville at Dublin's Crossing.

We all stayed at the Econo Lodge which was about 2 miles from the rally ... an easy back road ride to get to and from the rally.  Checked into the rally around 4pm, stayed for a while then Tony and I went back to the hotel and had dinner at Taco Bell across the parking lot.  When Bill and Nancy came back we had "fireballs" outside their room.

Free Beer!

Thursday got to the rally and lined up for the demo rides.  Tony got a demo at 10:30 on an RnineT Pure.  BMW Motorrad split up the rides into groups of six ... I followed Tony's group on my bike, a fun 1/2 hour on back roads and Interstate 40.

Jean and John were at the rally (they moved from Conway to Tryon).   We went to Jack Riepe's talk about Adventures within 25 miles from home ... he was fabulous.  At 6:30 we took the bus to the Bavarian Bierhaus in Nashville with Nancy, Bill, Jean and John.  It was a great evening and the buffet was great.

Friday morning Tony and I went on a 4 hour loop ride in the Tennessee mountains from the hotel to the rally, the last road was 70N the best part of the ride.  When we got to the rally Jerry, Barb, Suga and Mark were in the camping area.

Door prize winner ... but who has a RnineT???

Back to the hotel around 8:30PM ... when Bill and Nancy got back we had a fresh supply of "fireballs" which we took to the pool area until we had to leave because the pool area closed at 10PM, so we moved over to the outside of their room with the pool chairs.  As Nancy said "it was a fireball of a week."

Saturday morning we went to the IMT Bike Tours seminar, Motorcycle Touring in Spain and Portugal.  From 12 to 4 we volunteered at the beer garden.

Leaving for a ride to Antique Car Museum in Nashville

The CCBMW group at the beer garden.

Couldn't stay for the long and drawn out closing ceremony, so we left early and went back to the hotel and got ready for the ride home.

Sunday we left for Kodak (missing all the rain) with a stop for lunch in the lodge at Cumberland Mountain State Park.

At Nancy and Bill's house we loaded up the bikes on the trailer and stayed with them overnight.  Monday we took the Interstate home.  A great rally, 6,018 attendees, made even better by 3 nights with Bill and Nancy and miles of great roads navigated by Bill.
